Pues bien, hoy al hacer un eix-sync y luego un emerge --update --deep --newuse world me encuentro con que se corta con el mensaje citado, ¿porqué?, veo que el problema es de una librería de QUICKTIME y que yo recuerde no la tengo instalada en mi FLUXBOX bajo Gentoo 2006 y el KDE.
Muchas gracias anticipadas por las respuestas que podeis darme.
PostData: Si fuese necesario podría adjuntar el fichero /config.log producto de la compilación.

... pues no ha funcionado este emerge -uaDv world y las 'Updates' se detienen en el mismo sitio y con idéntico mensaje anteriormente expuesto.

ok entonces ataca el problema desde la raiz :
#emerge -Cav libquicktime && emerge -avuDN world && revdep-rebuild -av
Ps: el revdep-rebuild es para ver si algo necesita ser recompilado.

Probablemente hice algo mal y se desestabilizó el sistema por completo, .... opto por formatear.
