|
|
Well I installed Stage4 via guide located at http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Custom_Stage4 and after finishing all the steps... cant find the hard drive. Grub loads fine, but after boot i get this messge Code: | VFS: Cannot open root device "hda3" or uknown block (0,0) Please append correct "root=" boot option. | This is then followed by an expected kernal panic. Anyone know why my drive is missing. The new computer the stage4 is installed on has only one drive as does the previous one.
Thanks

Some more info would be handy.
Are you sure youve compiled support for your FS INTO your kernel, not as a module. Is your root line correct in grub (paste it and your fstab). Is your fstab correct? |

Your kernel is missing the driver for your IDE controller chipset. |
