|
|
Just one "nasty" problem with Gentoo, where i have not found a solution yet.
I have 4 Hdd in my pc, 2 connected to the onboard Controller (hda, hdc) and 2 connected to a promise Fasttrack 100 in a Raid0 Configuration (hde, hdg).
When I boot from the Live CD 1-4r3 everything is detected fine, but after compiling the System from Stage1 with Vanilla or Gentoo Kernel sources, it tells me that no devices have been enabled on the Promise Controller.
My root fd is on hda, so I think there has to be a switch in some Configuration File to enable the detection of the Harddisks.
Kernel has build in support for Promise Fasstrak Feature and Fasttrak ataraid Support. I've also checked out some other Distros and there it works without any flaws.
So if someone could please give me a hint... ![Question :?:](images/smiles/icon_question.gif) |

This may be a silly suggestion, but in your kernel config, have you enabled:
Multi-device support (RAID and LVM) ---> [*] Multiple devices driver support (RAID and LVM)
and
Multi-device support (RAID and LVM) ---> <*> RAID support

thanks for your reply, but as I dont use the Softwareraid Linux provides it makes no difference.
Here is the exact message that comes up:
PDC20267: (U)DMA Burst bit ENABLED Primary MASTER Mode Secondary MASTER Mode.
PDC20267: neither IDE prot enabled (BIOS).
The first message seems to be ok, because the Harddisks are connected as primary and secondary master.
But else I'm stuck, as the Controller etc. works fine within Windows and within other Linux Ditros... |

I haven't had much luck with gentoo-sources and ataraid.
Try ac-sources - it works for me. |
