lircd intermitantly dies

Hi All,

This has just started happening out-of-the-blue on my Mythtv box. Every now and then, lircd dies and I have to run it again and also irxevent which
depends on it.

Can someone suggest a likely place any error messages would go to, coudn't find anything in the logs.

Any help much appreciated ... don't like intermittant problems

An update, there is *something* in the logs, but not helpful
