Just a quick question ...

I'm getting kernel panic during the boot sequence and am trying to figure out why. I'd like to know if there is a way to access the long list of boot messages prior to the kernel panic line. Most of them have scrolled off the screen. Is there a way to scroll back? Can the screen be manually frozen at a certain point during the boot sequence?

Thanks,

Mike.

I think that if you hold down the shift key while pressing the up arrow key, you can scroll back through the messages at bootup. You should also be able to see some info from dmesg | less, but you actually have to get booted in order to do that. Or, you might be able to boot from the LiveCD and mount your devices and then take a look at /var/log/messages.

[Shift] + [PageUp]/[PageDown]

or just hit [ScrollLock] to pause the output.

Thanks, but none of the above seem to work:

[scroll-lock] does nothing.

[shift] + [page up] does nothing

[shift] + [up arrow] does nothing

??
