Does 2.6.17 kernel support Conroe core duo and 975 chipset?

Hello all,

I have ordered a new computer with Intel's Core Duo Extreme processor and a 975 chipset. Looking at the configuration options for the kernel using make menuconfig I could not tell if, first of all, whether I should continue to specify the processor as belonging to the Pentium class of processor families, and second of all if and where the 975 chipset support is located. I have googled some already. Maybe because the processor is so new there was nothing about Linux support for it.

Any thoughts from the cognoscenti?

Yes it supports it. Make sure you have smp enabled in your kernel.
