|
|
I am trying to install the Nvidia Drivers and have been running into problems. I have tried following the guid in the documentation but I keep running into problems.
After emerge nvidia-glx and running modprobe nvidia I get the following error. FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.17-gentoo-r4/video/nvidia.ko): Cannot allocate memory
I double checked my kernel configuration and origianally found that I had the kernel nvidia drivers enabled, this was pointed out the first time I tried to emerge nvidia. I made the changes and recompiled the kernel and was able to emege nvidia without problems.
This is really the last major hurdle that I have to overcome. I remeber when I was running fedora that installing the nvidia drivers was as a real headache.
Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Thanks for the help but I did get nvidia up and running. The cause was my own fault really. I was relying on portage to install X when I installed gnome. Well guess it did not happen. Well guess I learned the hard way. With all the little things I have done wrong I should all most make a Gentoo Newb Guide. |
