This is going to sound like possibly the stupidest question ever. How do you figure out what your architecture (no idea what that means anyway) is? Could someone explain to me what it is and how I can figure this out I've been wanting to get into linux for some time.

umm, well if you've got a PC it's x86. If you've got a mac, it's ppc (power pc). If you've got a 64 bit AMD or intel processor, it's x86_64 (but can also run as 'plain' x86).
If you've anything else, you *really* should know better (no offense) |

As odd as this sounds I work in a computer store building the hardware into the case and every once in a while I put in the operating system but it's windows so everything is simplified to where as long as you have a palm and a pointer finger all you have to do is keep hitting OK. Thanks though I appreciate the quick answer. |
