http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_saa7134
Quote: | saa7134 is a video4linux module in the linux kernel which provides support for certain PCI TV tuner cards.
This guide covers the basics to detecting your card and loading the correct modules so you can watch and record TV. |
theres your card
Quote: | ASUS TV-FM PCI
* 01:06.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7133/SAA7135 Video Broadcast Decoder (rev f0)
* card=25 tuner=5 (Optional setting, this card worked perfectly on auto-detection.) |
alot of people use mythtv, and it seams its not to bad to setup once you get the modules in and configured..
always check gentoo-wiki, usually a person has done something before you _________________ My Systems - "I suggest the whole thing be coded in whitespace. Henceforth the code will be obscure and functional at the same time." |

If all you want to do is watch tv, don't use mythtv. It is major overkill and can be harder for new users to set up.
The de-interlacer included with tvtime is very good also. |

Use TVtime. That thing is THE BEST TV VIEWER if you just want to watch tv and not record. Its in portage. I have it setup with my ATI Tv Wonder pro card and works great. _________________ Orlfman |

Those cards where designed more for recording than just watching. I have two 350s in my PVR.
They can't be beat for recording, but I find the saa713x quality for watching is just as good.
If I used to my ivtv based cards for regular viewing I think I would just use mplayer and setup up some keymaps to use ivtv-tune to change channels, etc. Because mythtv always records you get that short delay when switching channels that drives me crazy. (Yes, I'm spoiled. ) |

my system has plenty of horsepower to spare, and yes i know that mplayer can be used for viewing, but the commands for changing channels are annoying. _________________ My Systems - "I suggest the whole thing be coded in whitespace. Hence why I suggested mapping them to keystrokes.
Anyways, for non ivtv users, tvtime is the way to go. |
