hello, forum,
i would like to use my sound card, so i looked up wirh
lspci
i found , VIA High Definition Audio Controller
Should i use the alsa drivers? I have the kernel 2.6.17
How can i install the soundkart ?

Hello,
Let me attempt to answer it with another question: If you don't use the alsa drivers, what drivers are you going to use? Also if you use the alsa drivers in the kernel soundkart should come with it.

yes that ist my problem, i am using the 2.6.17 kernel . so i read that i don't have to use alsa-drivers.
i have an onboard soundkarte, the mainboard is from asus " Asus A8V-VM " --> my mainboard.
i don't know witch device i have to load ?

no ... in gnome i can't use my sounddevice, i put exaktly the driver in the kernel as you say.
under bash, everything works fine ( alsamixer works )
but under gnome my sounkarte wound work ?
what i am doing wrong ?
if i run emerge alsa-driver i get
