Hello,
Let me attempt to answer it with another question: If you don't use the alsa drivers, what drivers are you going to use? Also if you use the alsa drivers in the kernel soundkart should come with it. _________________ System Specs:

Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz
P35 Chipset

Code: | -> Device Drivers
-> Sound
-> Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
-> Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (SND [=y])
-> PCI devices
[ ] VIA 82C686A/B, 8233/8235 AC97 Controller
[ ] VIA 82C686A/B, 8233 based Modems |
Should be one of those two options _________________ System Specs:

no ... in gnome i can't use my sounddevice, i put exaktly the driver in the kernel as you say.
under bash, everything works fine ( alsamixer works )
but under gnome my sounkarte wound work ?
what i am doing wrong ?
if i run emerge alsa-driver i get
!!! ERROR: media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.11 failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1539: Called dyn_compile
ebuild.sh, line 939: Called src_compile
alsa-driver-1.0.11.ebuild, line 109: Called die
!!! Make Failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant. _________________ - - --
