|
|
Sorry if this is a cross-post, I can't find the answer anywhere. Among a few other problems, after updating to Modular-X, my cursor is now a small gray striped square.
I've run revdep-rebuild, which went fine...
Any ideas?

Maybe try to re-emerge libXcursor will help? Also do you have any of the cursors installed? _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

I emerged libXcursor but to no avail...
I must have had cursors installed before because it seemed to work fine then... |

My fault, I meant extra cursors...such as blueglass, etc. You could try to switch to one of them. _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

You know, I may have called it the wrong thing... It's my mouse pointer (cursor--whatever it's called) that is the strange striped square. I'm sorry for any confusion.
Instead of a nice arrow or pointer, I have that square that looks like a bad photocopy (pixelated and such)

No, you didn't call it the wrong thing. There are xcursor themes to replace the default ones. Is your mouse functionality okay otherwise? _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

Yeah, it works well except it's hard to point... (I can't see exactly what I'm pointing at) and it blocks a 1 inch square on my screen |

What video card do you have? You might want to try setting the "SWCursor" option. _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

I think it's just a standard 3d savage (something like that...) funny but it was working fine until I tried to upgrade to modular X.
I've just updated my kernel and system (except for 6 updates that I'll post elsewhere), restarted my machine and the square is still there.
Do I set the SW Cursor in kernel? |

No, you would set it as an option in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. It would go in the Device section. _________________

I solved it with xorgcfg, then went to Synaptics wiki and added Touchpad and synaptics to input device. This created a screens problem, which I also then solved...phew! |
