This isn't strictly a gentoo problem, but it does effect me with relevance to gentoo as I want to investigate sleeping in Gentoo.
Anyway...

Basically, this has happened twice now.

My system works fine apart from this...
Abit AT7 Max 2 Motherboard.
Athlon 2400+ processor
Hiper-Power Silent Switching Power Supply (Dual-Fan)

Its all plugged in, both the power cables (The old and new styles) are attached etc.

All works perfectly until in Windows XP I pressed sleep, came back some time later to find the system with the power on, but basically dead to the world. Blank screens etc. Basically the power button and everything stopped working as well. Had to switch off power on the power supply itself. when I switch it back on... nothing, hit power button, nothing. Remove power supply and directly connec the control lines on the power supply with a paper clip... nothing.

I returned the power supply thinking it was just faulty.... get my new one, exactly the same thing happens. I've just got my 3rd one from RMA and I'm scared to put my system to sleep... has anyone seen/heard of this before?

In addition, the paper clip test was done later, I initially assumed it was the mobo and they retunred it NFF, so they think that its not faulty. Im loathe to test this with a different power supply as I don't want to destroy a perfectly good power supply. How can I test this out?

Damn it I thought I would get an answer this time!

Stop bumping up your message count by adding these pointless messages. I know your just desperate for your coveted Tux's Li'l helper status. Have I mentioned I'm an apprentice now. :D You could try ther old fashion method of talking to me by walking the 10 yards down our hall and knocking on my door, or my preffered method, encrypted email. hehehe. :-D
