All of a sudden today, I restart mysql, and now it is making 5 instances of itself. It never did this before, and I didn't modify any settings. Does anyone know why?

EDIT: What is going on??? I just noticed the same thing happening with BIND. I really need help, I have limited resources on this computer.

I'm pretty sure that Linux will show each thread as a seperate process.
So there is only 1 instance of mysql but it has 5 threads running. The memory usage beside each 1 is shared also so it's not as bad as it seems.

Most likely the reason you didn't see it before is that a new version of procps has come out in the last week or so. I believe top was also replaced.
