I just thought I'd post a topic with solutions for some common bf2 problems.
The two I've heard most about are the game starting then freezing/exiting at a blank screen, and the patch not finding an install directory.
For the blank screen:
xorg.conf DefaultDepth should be 24. Ensure your nvidia drivers are working correctly. Then, in the bf2 cedega configuration, add this:
+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +restart 1
To the command line options field. You can change fullscreen to 0 if you don't want a fullscreen game, but I've found that having fullscreen enabled increases framerates.
And for the patch error, you you have to edit a registry file. Go to /home/youruser/.cedega/Battlefield 2(or whatever you called it)/
Next, open the system.reg file for editing. Find this line:
[Software\\Electronic Arts\\EA Games\\Battlefield 2] 1155067848
The number may not be the same. Add this line below it:
"InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 2"
Change the directory according to your installation.
These errors are very common, and nobody over at the transgaming forums has solved them... but uhh, I'm not authorized to post there. Enjoy! |
