00:14.6 Modem: ATI Technologies Inc ATI SB400 - AC'97 Modem

Hi all! It's my first forum post. I got a Fujitsu-Siemens A1650G notebook and installed gentoo 2006.0. Everything works fine and fast except my modem (and also cannot get 1280x800 fb)
I did a lot of googling and also grep'ed the kernel:
sound/pci/atiixp_modem.c: { 0x1002, 0x4378, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, 0 }, /* SB400 */
then I emerged slmodem; it starts successfully but cannot discover carrier. I tried hsfmodem, it works but connects at 14400 and they want 20$ from me for the full-speed version. I'm not very rich to pay bucks for a device which can probably work with an open source driver. Please help!
