I began at stage 1. on my make.conf, I added -mmmx -msse -msse2 flags on my CHOST. I have a P4 2gHz.
bootstrapping took me like 5 hours!!!!!!!!
now I'm did a emerge mirrorselect and its still going on over 30 mins!!!
why oh why? anyone have a solution to this?  |

| I have an Athlon XP 1800 and it took 3 hours. Maybe you need more RAM or the downloads are too slow but something is really wrong. |

Have you set MAKEOPTS="-j2" in make.conf? (substitute 2 with number of processors plus one, according to make.conf-comments - I don't know whether HyperThreading counts as an extra processor)

u dont add -mmmx -msse -msse2 on your CHOST but your CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS
