|
|
Hi,
My home network is behind nat and has internet access through router wich I can't use/configure (ISP property). I was thinking about solution that will provide me and my friends (who are also behind nat) to connect into single network.
I have access to a server with static IP on the internet. The idea is to use this server, install some kind of VPN on it so that me and my friends (most of them use XP) can connect with VPN clients and be in single LAN.
What would be the best way to this and which VPN software do you suggest?
Thanx! |

OpenVPN, in the net-misc/openvpn package, there's no doubt about it. Easiest to set up and cross-platform. For details on how to set it up on Gentoo, see http://gentoo-wiki.com/OpenVPN, and for details on how to set it up on Windows see the OpenVPN web site. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

I'll argue for OpenSwan or StrongSwan instead (which is the approach that we're taking). But I have to support road warriors using anything from Win98 (at home) to WinXP to OS X to who-knows-what. |
