Thanks to the almighty NeddySeagoon I discovered the glory of etc-update.
Problem solved
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So after another attempt to install gnome (the gentoo base installs just fine) I'm left again with the problems I mentioned in this topic :
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-489281.html
This is my system :
Asus P4P800se
Intel Pentium IV 3.0 ghz with a Prescott-core
1.5 gb DDR-ram
160 GB hdd
XFX GeForce 6600 GT
on-board sound
on-board lan
The gentoo base system (using an i686 stage 3 tarball) and a self-compiled kernel (using gentoo-sources) installed without any errors / problems.
Emerge --sync , emerge portage etc. also run fine without causing problems
Each time after emerging gnome my problems start (read the afore-mentioned topic for the errors I get).
Now for my question :
What should I do to make this a fully-functional system (Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE and Windows run just fine on this system) ?
My make.conf :
Code: |
# These settings were set by the catalyst build script that automatically built this stage
# Please consult /etc/make.conf.example for a more detailed example
