Without properly researching first, I formatted my root partition with JFS. When attempting to boot the partition, yaboot throws a message that the partition could not be found or is corrupted.
I have added the "read-only" option to the image definition in yaboot.
The computer is a iMac G5 Rev.B 17", and I'm trying to install 2006.0 64ul.
What is the current status of JFS and yaboot in ppc64? I've read here that It could be problematic, is it still so? |

Yaboot cannot read from JFS afaik. You will need to create a seperate ext2/3, reiserfs or XFS partition to hold the kernel (a seperate boot partition) to be able to use JFS. _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |

OK, thanks for your tip. I have reformatted the partition in ext3 and will be reinstalling gentoo bit by bit each evening. |

The limitation here is that yaboot cannot read its config file and kernel/initrd from a JFS filesystem. There are a number of ways around that. One way is to make /boot an ext3 disk partition, stick your kernels there, and then mkdir etc/ there and put your yaboot.conf file into there. Last step is to symlink from /etc/yaboot.conf to /boot/etc/yaboot.conf. _________________ -->
