I set ALSA_CARDS="intel8x0"
I emerged the alsa-driver
I emerged alsa-tools
I ran alsaconf and selected which card
Quote: | lspci -v | grep -i audio
00:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a2)
|
Now sound works but not mixing (I think my card supports hardware mixing) I have tried a dozen diffrent .asoundrc's and none of them work. Alsa-drivers are version 1.0.11.
I don't want to switch to kernel drivers. Waht should I do? |

You could always do software mixing by using something like JACK: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Jack
Why not switch to kernel drivers? It's easy enough to do and you only need support for the AC97, which works beautifully with the kernel drivers, in my experience. _________________ Carlton Stedman

"Note that if you really set it to !default, many applications may not work (in my case, only xine can support it). You could use artsdsp or esddsp and set the output system be JACK. Also if you restart the alsasound script, the JACK Server will be killed. You need to start it again by yourself."
So jack isn't the solution I'm looking for
The reason I don't want to use the kernel drivers is because I want to stay up to date with the latest alsa-drivers. |
