I noticed theres an ebuild called x11 and it pulls in a lot of x stuff. I just finished upgrading to xorg 7.0 :D After a few dependency issues I finally made it. And now I noticed theres an x11 ebuild which would have pulled in all the stuff I need. Should I emerge it and let it take care of all my xorg updates? Is that what it's meant for?

at a guess your talling about virtual/x11? It should have been installed, but if its not then emerge it to ensure you have all the packages needed by Xorg.

A recomended x11 install would be:
Code:

# emerge virtual/x11
# emerge freetype corefonts freefonts artwiz-fonts sharefonts terminus-font ttf-bitstream-vera unifont dejavu

then in your xorg.conf file replace all the font lines with:
Code:

   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/misc:unscaled"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/Type1"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/TTF"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/corefonts"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/freefont"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/sharefonts"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/terminus"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/ttf-bitstream-vera"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/unifont"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
   FontPath    "/usr/share/fonts/artwiz"

Make sure that RgbPath is set to "/usr/share/X11/rgb", and that ModulePath are commented.
