Finally installed Gentoo....snappy! X is built, X works, but there seem to be permission issues. Root can startx, and run graphic apps. newuser takes a long time for X to start & graphic apps, i.e. mozilla, do not run. Any pointers toward correct configuration? It appears there should be .xinitrc, .Xsession, etc., in /home/newuser. |

No, actually I am a bit vague what it should be, as this macine has no fully qualified domain name. |

You should be able to get away with any one word. I use just one word for my pc. You can use just about anything. See if that helps. Incidnentally, there's a thread around somewhere about what people name their machines. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I'll try that when I get back to that machine, Thanks. Still, what's wrong with "localhost"? With my SuSE box, that seems to work fine. |
