|
|
xend starts up in dom0 and configures my network but I can't ping anything. I don't want to proceed install domU's until my networking works.
I'm not using dhcp , static ip address defined in /etc/conf.d/net. Everything works when I boot into my regular gentoo-sources kernel.
Since I can't get on the internet on the xen pc I will type in a summary of ifconfig here
ifconfig
eth0 192.168.0.180
lo 172.0.0.1
peth0
vif0.0
xenbr0
There isn't much information on network trouble shooting in the gentoo xen howto so I thought I'd ask you guys
Thanks in advance |

If it's statically allocated and it doesn't show up, something is either missing, something is not running, or you edited the wrong file. I can't see any other reasons. |

I made a "lighter" runlevel and it seems to have fixed it, when I narrow things down to a certain service I will post.
Edit: arnos iptables script kills networking while running xen kernel on my computer
When i start iptables with his script i can ping out but not receive.
When running iptables on my regular kernel everything works great. Should I only be running these services on domU? |

Thats something I am experiencing too. I noticed that if you restart your net.eth once you are inside the routing starts working just fine. Or, if you restart the xend daemon, you also start recieving packets.
In my opinion its the bridging that breaks it.
I dont know how to fix it though _________________ I.M. |
