I have looked at IceWM, Fluxbox, and Xfce. I liked some aspects of all; however, I just find them lacking as far as my windowing experience is concerned. Don't get me wrong, I love a jaunt on the command-line like any other self-described computer geek.
However, I would like an experience similar to what I can get out of KDE or Ximian Gnome... but without the performance hit.
Don't laugh, but I am running quit well on my P233MMX system and think that there should be an alternative to KDE and Gnome that gives similar features while not sacrificing performance.
Any other alternatives?
For the record, I want:
- Themes
- GUI configuration of X built in to the WM (like some of IceWM-tools)
- speed... speed... speed
- toolbar similar to Gnome or KDE or (gasp) windows

The short answer is: You will not find anything that gives you the same as KDE/Gnome, but at the resource usage of *box etc. It is simply not possible.
Either live with the slimmer WM's or consider getting a new PC. A 266 is *kind* of old
