I'm trying to upgrade to KDE 3.5.2 the split ebuilds way, because my amarok is broken and I've read that upgrading to 3.5 will have it work again (all other solutions didn't work for me).
Problem is, the very first emerge bails, like so:
Code: | # emerge kdebase-startkde

>>> emerge (1 of 18) kde-base/kreadconfig-3.5.0 to /

I can see it's not finding the required file.
(I ran an #emerge sync just before)
Is there anything I can do about this? Any help is appreciated... |

KDE 3.5.0? That version in itself is fairly out-of-date. Are you running stable x86 or unstable ~x86? It sounds to me like you need to do an emerge --sync. |

I'm running stable ~x86 and looking to upgrade to KDE 3.5.2 (not 3.5.0).
I did an emerge --sync just before trying to emerge kdebase-startkde.
Some of the dependencies are evidently 3.5.0 versions, but my portage tree is up to date:
Code: | #emerge -p kdebase-startkde
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kreadconfig-3.5.0
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kwin-3.5.2-r2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/khotkeys-3.5.1
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/libkonq-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdebase-data-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kicker-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdesu-3.5.0
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/khelpcenter-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kcminit-3.5.0
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kcontrol-3.5.2
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdepasswd-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdm-3.5.2-r1
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdialog-3.5.0
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kcheckpass-3.5.0
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdesktop-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/ksplashml-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kpersonalizer-3.5.2
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdebase-startkde-3.5.2

For the record, I just tried again, but the same problem persists.
I think there's a way to add packages to the portage tree 'manually', i.e. if I manage to download the package from somewhere else and add it to the tree, I might be able to overcome the problem. Anyone know how to do this? Any other solutions? |
