I'd love it if someone could shed some light onto why exactly totem has recently stopped audio playback for mpg files. All other formats (.avi, .mov) play sound just fine in totem bt not mpg and this is a new occurrence.
Code: | host user # emerge -pv xine-lib totem
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.2-r2 USE="X aac alsa asf dvd gnome ipv6 nls opengl samba sdl xv -a52 -aalib -arts -debug -directfb -dts -dxr3 -esd -fbcon -flac -imagemagick -libcaca -mad -mng -modplug -oss -speex -theora -v4l -vcd -vorbis -xinerama -xvmc" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia -i810 -via" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-video/totem-1.4.2-r1 USE="dbus dvd firefox gnome mpeg nsplugin xine xv -a52 -debug -flac -lirc -mad -nvtv -ogg -theora -vorbis" 0 kB

I added 'aac' to my USE flags for xine-lib and recompile both xine-lib and then totem to no avail.
This is an amb64 system. |

looks like I needed the "mad" USE flag
does this mean anything to anyone? (besides the obvious) cause it means nothing to me in relation to portage:
Code: | *********************************************************************
xine is configured with external ffmpeg.
This requires the same version of ffmpeg what is included in xine and
you should know what you do. If some problems occur, please try to
use internal ffmpeg.
