Hi all,
I had dhcp working flawlessly on my system for the longest time, but at some point (I think it was after an update), things kind of went to hell. DCHP failed to start as the computer started, though typing in dhcpcd eth0 upon bootup returned things to their usual state. I noticed that in the last bits of the startup text, a few errors had appeared:
Code: |
/etc/init.d/net.eth0: Line 34:
/lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/helpers.d/functions
No such file or directory
find: /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/: No Such File or Directory
No interface module has been loaded.
Setting up KDM....
/etc/init.d/net.lo: Line
34:/lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/helpers.d/functions: No such files or
directory
Starting
find: /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/: No such file or directory
no interface module has been loaded
ERROR: could not start netmount as net.lo could not start
ERROR: could not start ntpd as net.lo could not start
ERROR: could not start samba as net.lo could not start
ERROR: could no start sshd as net.lo could not start
|
Whenever I try to start samba manually, I get this;
Code: |
# /etc/init.d/samba start
/etc/init.d/net.lo: line 34: /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/helpers.d/functions: No such file or directory
* Starting
find: /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/: No such file or directory
* no interface module has been loaded
/etc/init.d/net.eth0: line 34: /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/helpers.d/functions: No such file or directory
* Starting
find: /lib/rcscripts/net.modules.d/: No such file or directory
* no interface module has been loaded
* ERROR: cannot start samba as net.lo could not start
|
In another problem that may be somewhat related, whenever I reset my box, it pops out a few errors, but evetially says that the filesystems have been unmounted. At that point, it should reboot, but it just hangs. Does anyone have any idea?

Try re-emerging baselayout, and running 'etc-update'. |

And the newer baselayout changed the config files too. I had to update mine. Everything is in /etc/conf.d/net if I recall correctly. It should have said that when it was emerging but it may have flown by to fast to see.

Emerging the new baselayout and running etc-update did the trick, though etc-update clobbered some config files that I had to restore. Thanks a lot for your help, all. |
