hello. i've installed gentoo on my dell inspiron 1300 laptop. while running fluxbox i sensed an urge for listening to music from the dvdrom.
after playing one dvd it began to make some odd noises and xmms became a zombie process.
i wanted to reboot because i wasnt able to umount the device but that didn't respond either.
so i've forced a reboot (with the sysrq button).
now, the thing is that when it boots i get this message that it is unable to mount the root fs read write mode.
before that it said that it skips fsck for the reiserfs partition because of the partno=0 although i've modified fstab/mtab that fsck would commence.
i've tried fsck on it from knoppix, but it still gave the same error.
if it helps for diagnosys, i can post some files here or dmesg outputs (the latter didn't seem to be pretty much relevant).
just ask.
thanks. |
