When my gentoo installation starts up, I am getting the following message with a yellow start during boot.
System.map not found unable to check symbols
Is there a way to fix this message?

I just came across this problem on a new build.
It's to do with not having the System.map file in the kernel source folder.
I'm not sure if it looks for it in the /usr/src/linux folder or the one for the running kernel (ie linux-2.6.??-gentoo-r?), though running kernel makes more sense.
Out of old habits dieing hard, I had the System.map file copied over to /boot from installing the kernel. I just created the kernel source folder (with the right name, try uname -r for help) and copied the System.map from my /boot to there. |
