I tried to install gqview and it aborts saying:
The file is already fully retrieved; nothing to do.
!!! Couldn't download gqview-2.0.1.tar.gz. Aborting.
Some help? here's my info

Try deleting the gqview download file from /usr/portage/distfiles and then emerge it again.
i.e.
rm /usr/portage/distfiles/gqview*
emerge gqview
I checked the primary distfiles mirror in your GENTOO_MIRRORS list and the file is there. _________________

thanks a lot for answering that fast!!
But the problem remains. I did what you suggested and I verified the file to be removed, twice,
but Quote: | ..."already fully retrieved"... | is still there.

That's weird. I did a google search of the gentoo forums for your problem and there were 32 results. I didn't see any solutions in the first couple though.
You might try running "emerge --sync" again if you haven't done so in the last 24 hours (or even the last 12). No idea if that would help. You might also try commenting out your GENTOO_MIRRORS setting in /etc/make.conf and see if it makes any difference. _________________

Well, I've tried commenting out the "GENTOO_MIRROS" settings in /etc/make.conf (and then 'emerge --sync'), but it was exactly the same.
About the search you did, I didn'f find those 'same problems', I'm sorry, I think I'll have to learn to search.
Thanks a lot anyway! |

Try downloading the tar.gz from searching through google and set it in the distfiles and see what happens. I had this happen once and it was due to a incomplete file on on of the mirors(i think thats what caused it :p ) _________________ You may think its a error in the code but it is really a new feature |

That worked straight forward.
Thanks a lot to both of you.
(Should I change the subject to "Solved"? the real subject wasn't solved, but I finally installed what I wanted and anyone with this problem would solve his own with these suggestions...) |
