DVD-R Mounts as Blank Media

I'm having trouble getting my burned DVD-R media to automatically mount.

My system has a Samsung DVD (not DVD-R) drive. When I insert a commercial CD or DVD, or a burned CD-R they will autmoatically mount and appear on the desktop.

When I insert a burned DVD-R, it "mounts" on the desktop as "blank media". However, I can manually mount the burned DVD-R if I add an appropriate line in /etc/fstab (mounting /dev/hdc to /media/hdc).

I've tried burning DVD-Rs using various filesystems (including UDF) and playing around a little with /etc/fstab but with no success. Does anyone have a suggestion?
