Hello Folks,
I installed Gentoo on my Notebook and am having some trouble specially with my video card
Its a Trident Microsystems CyberBlade i1.
When i do a startx with the trident driver the window size drop to 50pct of the screen, like a zoom out, and it stay small even if i change resolution.
If i use vesa driver it works fine with the Desktop fullfiling the LCD.
I cant solve it =(
Any help =)

I have a Trident Cyberblade and experienced the same problems as well.
In the monitor section, try adding the HorizSync option.
I use "30-81" but check your manual before adding that option, as you CAN burn your screen if setting it incorrectly. |

But my monitor is a LCD.
Does HorizSync works on LCDs? I cant find any specification for that.

| I will boot up my old laptop that uses the Trident and post my xorg.conf to a pastebin. I'll probably do this over the weekend. |

I first had strange problem with trident and framebuffer on my toshiba satellite 4600.
when initializing fb with a res of 1024x768, screen hangs. found a switch in bios for stretch size of display.
after denying option, fb initialized fine.
i dont know if its only related to ati but doesnt lcd monitor only need dpms setting in xorg.conf? 
Somebody with trident chip had already made experiences with direct rendering feature?
EDIT: Tried again with stretch screen and it worked (possible issue with 2.17 now 2.180-suspend2 is running) |

My LCD needs a HorizSync to fullfil the entire display size in resolutions 1024x768 and above.
I found out a somewhat default HorizSync for LCD on the net and my problem is solved
Here how my xorg looks like to solve the problem
