I've got a dvd burner that's plugged into a PCI IDE card and when I boot up, I get no indication that the drive is listed, I only get the one hard drive that is plugged in. Running lshw can tell me that even the OS can't see that anything on the IDE channels on that card is not a dvd burner.
The strange thing is this: I can read cds fine... I have not been able to burn cds or dvds though. Perhaps this could be a jumpering problem? I've got no spare jumpers lying around however. |

ok, so I changed my hardware around a bit--added the dvd burner onto the motherboard IDE controller and moved the channel over to the IDE card and it works fine... I wonder why the IDE card doesn't like the drive as much as the disk. |
