Ciao, sono bloccato a metà dell'installazione di gentoo 2006.1 su un portatile Acer Aspire 1307LC con Athlon XP 512 Mb di Ram...
La rete funziona (ping e links vanno benissimo), ma non riesco a fare emerge...Secondo me c'è un problema nella risoluzione degli indirizzi.
Ho scaricato stage, portage e gentoo-sources, usando un'altro computer mentre facevo le partizioni, per risparmiare tempo, e così non mi sono accorto subito del problema.
Sono collegato mediante un router D-Link DSL-G624T che fa da DNS, ha interfaccia 192,168.1.1 ed infatti in /etc/resolv.conf c'è:

Mi sembra un po' strano che l'indirizzo di quella macchina (il mirror) sia 1.0.0.0...
Che fare?

forse il tuo router non offre (magari non è configurato) il forwarding
delle query al dns, la soluzione piu' semplice è quella di aggiungere
manualmente l'ip di almeno un server dns al file /etc/resolv.conf.
(puoi ricavarlo dal router stesso nella pagina che mostra lo stato della connessione)

Infatti...inserendo a manazza un altro server dns in resolv.conf (e commentando l'interfaccia del router) funziona tutto.
Vedrò di configurare il mio router a dovere...
