Hi, for some reason when I start totem it says "Could not initialize supporting library."... also when i go to "Multimedia Selector" in Gnome, nothing says it's working. However my audio works, and so does my video (tested with webcam, and mplayer plays any movie I need...)
Any help will be appreciated, thanks. |

Totem uses gstreamer as a backend IIRC. Is that emerged? If it is, are you using ALSA or OSS? You can use gconf-editor to check this (system --> gstreamer --> [latest_version] --> default). I had nothing but problems with OSS which is what it defaulted to. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

I've had bad results using gstreamer as totem's backend, I prefer to use xine
Code: | echo "media-libs/xine-lib mad" >> /etc/portage/package.use
echo "media-video/totem xine" >> /etc/portage/package.use
emerge -pv totem |
of course add your own requried USE flags. the reason for the "mad" USE flag for xine-lib is that I needed it enaled for totem to playback audio in mpeg format video files. |
