Do Intel fiber cards work?

I need to order a fiber card for a gentoo box I'm building for a customer who has a fiber connection--but I've never dealt with fiber before.

Are the intel cards (linked below) a good fit for a Gentoo box? For the cards linked below, I would guess that the e1000 driver would work...

Does anyone have experience with any of these?

The Intel cards use the e1000 driver, I believe. They're good cards.

Well, at least that's one vote for the intel cards. I think I'll go ahead and get them and try them out, unless anyone has any horror stories to relate.

If you'd like I can check at work and see if we have one left over; I could test it and perhaps sell it to you cheap-style.

No problem; ever since gigabit copper has come out we've not used the fiber at all.
