|
|
I'm now using the University of Manitoba's internet, as I'm living in res there this year. They have closed all ports but 21, 25, 80, and 110, for obvious reasons. I would like to use bittorrent, but since all the ports are closed, I can't get a connection.
Is there any way I can either circumvent this (I don't particularly enjoy surfing for proxies... they almost never work) or is it possible to 'force' a port to open, even though I am not the network admin?
Basically, I figure I'm screwed. _________________ ...And then stuff happened. |

Can't you configure your bittorrent client to use one of those ports? some trackers block low-ports but most of them should be okay. |

Well, as it turns out, I can use those ports.
However.... 25 and 110 are mail ports, 21 is FTP, and 80 is HTTP, so they are all in use most of the time, so my download rates are .2kbps to about 2.2kbps.
Not so great. _________________ ...And then stuff happened. |
