Open office 2.0.4-rc1-r1 finally compiles on amd64. This is great... although I have found the same problem on 2 different machines- namely that writer won't save. I get the following error dialog:
Code:

Error saving the document Untitled1:
Object not accessible.
The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user rights.

This happens no matter where I try to save a document.

I am having the same problem on two computers. If you hit File -> Save twice, try to save the file, receive the error, then save it again with the first save dialog, it works. Don't know why, but it does.

Well, this works for already existing docs, so at least there is a workaround for that. You can't save a new doc though... probably becaue it ends up using save as dialog. hmmm.

I get the same error when exporting to pdf. However, when I use File > Send > Email as OpenDocument Text (or Email as pdf, etc.), then the document does appear as an attachment to an email and can be saved from there.

Have you guys been able to compile openoffice on amd64 with the java USE flag enabled? Maybe file-saving is one of the things for which java is needed?

My platform is AMD64, and I don't use java for anything (-java). It worked fine in the last release candidate (openoffice-2.0.4_rc1) , but this new one (openoffice-2.0.4_rc1-r1) it doesn't. So the problem doesn't seem to be java.

I have the java Use flag enabled, and so the issue appears from both sides of that. I tried recompiling with USE=-ldap to see if that was somehow a culprit, but no change and no quick fix.
