Hello,
I have trouble to play one DVD with xine (just this one):
I start xine, click on DVD and get the message:

The audio device is unavailable. Please verify if another program already use it.

If I change the DVD it works withount any problems. Playback with mplayer works too:

It seems there is no Xvideo support for your video card available.
Run 'xvinfo' to verify its Xv support and read DOCS/HTML/en/video.html#xv!
See 'mplayer -vo help' for other (non-xv) video out drivers. Try -vo x11

I suspect that the audio codec A52 is the problem. But xine-lib and all dependencies are compiled with A52 use flag on. I don't really think that it is a locked audio device, since all other DVD are working perfect.

Any idea?

i found that it only happens when a DVD is 5.1 surround sound, some dvds start out in 5.1 while others start out in stereo until the actual movie starts and then become 5.1.

I found a way around it, just open xine, set the audio to off and turn the audio back on when the actual movie is starting to play, not the menu or previews, but the actual movie. And now you have sound.
