Hi all,

I'd like to setup some sort of shortcut key or shell script to "sleep" my monitor. It does it on it's own after about 30 min, but it would be nice to be able to be able to use a shortcut sometimes. I'm using gnome if that make a difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

PS I don't want to totally sleep or hibernate my machine. I just want my monitor to power down...

man xset and look for dpms options, that may do it (I haven't tested it). See also http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Automatically_turn_off_your_monitor
