More Konqueror video preview problems [SOLVED]

I'm using kde 3.5.2, and i just emerged -e world after upgrading to gcc-4.1.1. I lost my video previews and this problem has seemed to be a frequent one. I tried emerging artsplugin-xine and it works, but if I try to "emerge -uDav world" it wants to remerge kdemultimedia again (I have to unemerge it before emerging artsplugin-xine because they block one another).

My question is, is there a solution to get video previews in konqueror without using artsplugin-xine. Or, can I use artsplugin-xine without having to worry about updating world and there being packages, such as kdemultimedia, being blocked? (and without having to reinstall kde a different way)

Okay, I fixed the problem. I remerged kdemultimedia with the "xine" use flag enabled.
