Posted: Sun Sep 10, 2006 2:23 pm Post subject: No more domainname resolving in vmplayer |
I recently did a Gentoo install in VMware Player (hosted on WinXP). It worked brilliantly.
After some recent trouble with DNS name resolving using the DNS server of my ISP, I have set both Windows and Gentoo to use third party nameservers. This works fine in Windows and also in my normal Gentoo installation (I dual-boot). But the Gentoo install in vmplayer no longer resolves domainnames. The virtual network is fine and I can ping outside IP numbers, such as those of the nameservers I want to use. But I don't understand why it can't resolve names. I've come to the end of my knowledge, and browsing the documentation and the forums haven't shed any light on it. So I'm open to ideas!
Here's some info:
