I installed Gentoo from the 2005.1 CD... and I am wondering if it is necessary to start from scratch and install a 2006 version. Is there any benefit? I do see that it has a graphical installation, can you opt not to use it? Or should I just keep up to date with portage by updating though emerge periodically?
Thanks

Use the livecd and do a manual install inside gnome-terminal. Better yet, use a recent knoppix cd and install from there. That's what I usually do. Since I have /home on it's own partition, I even have access to my files while I'm doing it. _________________
