I want to setup an IMAP server to handle all my mail with a lot of different passwords to customers' websites and such other informations I regullary need when I'm not home and can't check local mail which I store in thunderbird. I thought an IMAP server would be a good choice, but I would need to export my current local thunderbird mailbox contents (a lot of messages, about 1.5GB) somehow into that IMAP server. Is that possible? If there's no suitable tool made, would it be difficult to write one? (ie. are there any imap servers which store the messages in a conveniently simple (text-based) format so it would be possible to write a script to convert tb's text-format inbox into the server's format?)

Why not make a new profile, which connects to your imap server and than copy the emails with thunderbird itself?
Just drag und drop should work. |

WOW! A simple working drag and drop solution How come I didn't think of something like this in the first place. I was in fact preparing to create a kind of script... Is that so unusual to see something like this working in the linux world, or did I finally become a real programming-degenerated geek? |

i´m regularly working with different imap servers within thunderbird
