|

Hello there,
first I tried to use Firefox-1.5.0.5 but that crashes loading almost any site. Then I tried Firefox-1.5.0.6 but that too crashes like hell. I am using GCC-4.1.1, by the way.
I then tried to emerge Mozilla-1.7.13 but that does not allow me to install extensions unless I run it as root. When I install extensions as root and return to using Mozilla as a normal user then all my extensions are gone. Changing the permissions on the chrome directory didn't help either.
Then I tried to use Konqueror, but the mplayerplug-in won't work together with Konqueror and many JAVA related things don't work either.
One of my primary uses of Gentoo is the internet and related security ...
Any tips?

Use the mozilla-firefox-bin package. It always seems to work better than compiling the package from source. Extensions work fine. _________________ undvd - ripping dvds should be as simple as unzip |

I already found a solution:
What I did is install extensions in Mozilla as root, then:
# cp *.jar files from /usr/lib/mozilla to /home/me/.mozilla/default/...
# chown me *.jar
# rm -fr /root/.mozilla
That works too. |
