After an --update --deep , the system update various modules , among them was the udev, which faild loading until I managed to recompile the kernel with the CONFIG_COLDPLUG (solution found in the forums).
Now the system starts but from the serial console I see that it stops in "Starting Local"
Code: |
* Starting local ... [ ok ]
Sep 7 18:31:56 qube2 agetty[3751]: /dev/tty1: not a character device
Sep 7 18:31:56 qube2 agetty[3752]: /dev/tty2: not a character device
Sep 7 18:31:56 qube2 agetty[3753]: /dev/tty3: not a character device
Sep 7 18:31:56 qube2 agetty[3754]: /dev/tty4: not a character device
Sep 7 18:31:56 qube2 agetty[3755]: /dev/tty5: not a character device

You're not set up to use serial console. Have a look at /etc/inittab, and check that the c[123456] lines are disabled and the s0 line is enabled. This is covered in the handbook. _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)

Well, you've got a headless box lacking virtual console devices. So naturally the /dev/tty* devices have no driver behind them, and so the consolefont init script, and anything else trying to interact with them, will fail.
Your best plan of attack is to simply disable the consolefont service that's started on boot. It serves no useful purpose on a headless machine. _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)
