When I try to install Gentoo on a Compaq desktop, the installation hangs at "Switching to xorg-x11 OpenGL interface..." It never gets past this point.
Any suggestions? _________________ Live today like there is no tomorrow...

To be honest, the best suggestion I can give to you, is to use the minimal disk and follow the handbook. This way of installing is much more thought out and actually is the default install method.
- Use the GLI only if you know what you are doing. -
Doing the manual install is the most sane and most educational install method and it will save you a lot of troubles later on.
Just give it a try, it is quite easy and lots of fun, at least it was for me at my first install!
Enjoy! |
