Hi guys, I'm having a lot of trouble with my KDE installation. I think all of this happened after I installed the latest Qt
Anyway, when I start KDM, I get a window, with empty widgets (e.g. empty boxes where widgets should be) and now I'm getting the exact same thing when I try to run any KDE app.
Something that may prove to a be a clue, all the menu bar's have a _ for each menu. I don't know what that means but I think it may be fonts :\
Any insights? |

Try removing roots and your users .kde files and directory, and the .qt directory. Then restart KDM or whatever. If its a font problem, you could also try running fc-cache. One thing that happened to me, is that when i used the Nvidia newest drivers, my kde apps would lock up my computer like that. So if you have them installed, try downgrading to version 3, or whatever is "stable" in portage, that stopeed all of my kde apps from freezing up my computer. |

I recall that if you upgrade the qt libraries you will need to at least re-emerge kdelibs and kdebase in order for kde to function correctly.

Yep, I must have re-emerged the entire KDE suite at least 4 or 5 times. I've deleted root's and I's .kde and .qt dirs (and .kderc), and I've also wiped /tmp.
Even when I uninstalled KDE, I wiped out the /usr/kde dirs, still with no luck. I really need my computer to run KDE soon, It looks like I'm going to have to reinstall |
