Hi, there,

After gcc upgrade to 4.1.1 I've been having a problem with comix. It
complains it needs PyGTK 2.8 or greater to work properly.

However, I have PyGTK 2.8.6 installed.

I have tried reemerging comix a couple of times, even reemerge PyGTK
before reemerging comix and still comix keeps complaining.

Anybody has any clues?

Thanks!

It seems as if Python can't find the PyGTK modules. Try running:
Code:
python-updater

Did not work either...

Code:
localhost ~ # python-updater
 * Can't determine any previous Python version(s).

Here goes my emerge info:

Please fire up a python interpreter (simply `python`at a command prompt) and enter the following, one line at a time:

Code:

import pygtk
pygtk.require("2.0")
import gtk

See if you get an error message from any of the lines.

It looks like cairo is making me some trouble:

Code:
Python 2.4.3 (#1, Sep 15 2006, 19:00:41)
[GCC 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1)] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import pygtk
>>> pygtk.require("2.0")
>>> import gtk
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py", line 45, in ?    from _gtk import *
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cairo/__init__.py", line 1, in ?
    from _cairo import *
ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cairo/_cairo.so: undefined symbol: cairo_ps_surface_set_dpi_REPLACED_BY_cairo_surface_set_fallback_resolution
>>>

I'll try reemerging cairo and pycairo.

Have you tried revdep-rebuild? If that does not help, re-emerging gtk+ might be worth a shot.

revdep-rebuild only tries to reemerge azureus-bin, and I did a emerge gtk+ pygtk cairo pycairo comix, but the problem is struggling to survive. Mf...

I've found some clues here. And it did the trick. Now I can read my comics again. :lol:
