Ok, I've got Starcraft working under Wine. Got a few issues that I need to get resolved, and I didn't see any solutions in the forums.
1) There is no, art, in b.net. There are black screens, with white text (that never gets removed, over covered with more text). This is an issue I know, but I want to know if it can be fixed.
2) Lag. Performance isn't unplayable, but I've got constant lag, even in single player. When there is alot going on, the program can almost freeze.
3) If something messes up and Starcraft died (or I have to kill it for some reason), I get stuck in the micro-screen (640xwhatever I think it is). Ctrl-Alt-Keyminus/plus doesn't work. It is enabled in xorg.conf, as well (meaning the nozoom is commented). The only waY I can fix this ever is via a restart of X, which is to say the least, annoying.
There any solutions to this?
Wine Version - 0.9.20 (upgrading to 0.9.21 as we speak)
SCBW - 1.14. Had to do the update manually, but it supposedly works. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

Hi
Up until recently my starcraft was working perfectly, then I did an emerge -u world and everything is messed up.
The only thing I can help with is if you are using kde you can fix the mini screen by going Kmenu>Settings>peripherals>display and changing to your preffered resolution, then hit enter on the keyboard. _________________ If I were an enzyme I'd be DNA helicase so I could unzip your genes. |

I don't use KDE, nor Gnome, not Rox, nor XFCE, nor...
But thanks for the reply though. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

Well, I found a work-around sort of for the screen resolution, but that involes using a window for the program, which makes it a bit, hmm, small
Apparently, there is a problem with all this from a long time ago, and OpenGL seemes to help with it some, so I'll mess with Wine and my Starcraft settings some and see what I can get it to do. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

Did you ever fix the missing art problem? I also play SC:BW through wine and that is the only problem Ive encountered so far. Black screens in much of the mp gui. |

x=4 # value is depend on machine ....
renice $x `ps -Ao pid,comm | sed '/wine-preloader/!d;s/(.*) .*/1/;`
